We flew out of Fort Francis to a wonderful outpost approximately 225 miles northeast of our departure. The lake was beautiful and the lake was ours. The four of us and our two 16' boats with 15 hp Yamahas were all we needed. The walleyes were hitting at 12 to 18 ft. in a choppy northwest wind. The sky was overcast and the weather was dry. Most of the fish were caught on leeches and jigs. I think the best jig colors were pink and chartreuse.

The water in this area was dark with an iron tint and the walleyes had a gold appearance to their color. After noticing this unique coloring we decided to fish for big Pike in the afternoon, after we finished morning Walleye fishing. We fished with size 285 gold plated Doctor Spoons. These spoons proved to be the ticket. During this week all of our party caught Pike over 42" (trolling and casting). One of the fish caught is pictured on the front of this Blog. All of our Pike were released successfully.

The trip was one of the best I've been on recently. I plan to return to this great body of water soon with my jigs and Doctor Spoons!

Please visit CanadianFishing.org and CanadianHunting.com

Canadian Hunting Blog!

Canadian Hunting Blog!

Great links at CanadianHunting.com
